A Balanced Body by Jess
Labor Doula, Certified Massage Therapist
I was born and raised in San Diego and was introduced to massage after experiencing a shoulder injury in a State championship swim meet. I had Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, and Massage Therapists continually working on my injury which inspired me to attend massage school and I fell in love with it.
In 2001 I graduated from Mueller College of Holistic Studies, San Diego. My graduation day was very exciting and rewarding because not only did I graduate, but I also provided Channel 8 News Team with individual therapy.
Currently, I am attending Grossmont College and S.D.S.U., pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training.
Since graduation I have worked in Chiropractic offices, wellness centers, and also run my own practice. My specialties include deep tissue, pregnancy, heated stone, Asian fire cupping, sports rehabilitation/injuries, sports nutrition and nutrition consultations. I have also had the privilege of working on racehorses, which was very rewarding, and am currently traveling with a motorcycle racing team.
I love empowering women and love to provide services for women’s retreats, which I have done in the past. I have also supported women throughout their pregnancy, labor, and birth. Which makes me a Certified Labor Doula from DONA international.
When I am not massaging clients at my office in La Mesa, or my home office in Tierrasanta, I volunteer as an assistant Athletic Trainer and Massage Therapist for El Capitan High School football team.
I am also the team captain of Dorie’s Gang for the Alzheimer’s Association, where my team and I raise money and do a walk/run as a team every year in memory of my Grandmother.
I have used what I’ve learned to help people suffering from a variety of ailments and injuries such as cancer, diabetes, fibromyalgia, car accident victims or worker’s comp, and sports/athletic injuries. I have learned so much from my clients and I look forward to sharing the experience of massage with you.
