If you are a doula who is interested in joining an organized doula group, we hope you will consider Beautiful Beginnings. Our doula group is open to all doulas that are trained as either Labor or Postpartum doulas. Certification is not a prerequisite to joining our group. We will consider any doula regardless of training program, and we allow you to belong to our group and all doula groups. We are the first and only team of doulas in San Diego that provides labor and postpartum support, training, and certification mentoring. We also provide education, referrals and resources to community services. Together, we can provide support and care to all families during their childbearing years. It is a requirement of Beautiful Beginnings to be a member of DONA International.

Criteria for Membership as a Labor Doula:
- Certified childbirth educator or RN; OR
- Participation in one day Childbirth Education course (provided as part of the doula training) OR attendance at a series of childbirth classes (as defined by DONA.)
- Copy of your certificate from your approved Labor Support training course
- Member application and copy of your certificate from an approved labor doula training course.
Criteria for Membership as a Postpartum Doula:
- Copy of CPR requirement (Classes available through Red Cross)
- Copy of your certificate from an approved Postpartum Support training course
- Copy of Breastfeeding course requirements
- Membership application
Membership Fees:
- Active Doulas: $125 per year
*Evaluations from clients are required (Three per year). - In-active doulas: $50.00 a year
- Others interested in the field; Supporters, advertisers: $50.00 a year
Changes and additions to the website are done two times per year: Renewal or new members can join by January 31st or June 30th to be included on the site. Renewal benefits apply when joining at our annual December gathering.
